I specialize in facial neuromuscular re-education. This is also known as facial therapy, facial rehabilitation, facial retraining, or simply physical therapy of the face. This therapy is for individuals recovering from facial paralysis or facial palsy caused by conditions such as:
Bell's palsy
Ramsay-Hunt syndrome
Acoustic neuroma, vestibular schwanoma, or other tumor removal
Post-surgical after facial re-animation or reconstruction
Other injuries to the facial nerve (face/head trauma, surgeries)
Whether you are in the acute phase of recovery with no movement, experiencing incomplete movements and frustration, or dealing with the long-term challenges of muscle tightness and unwanted movements like synkinesis, I am here to guide you.
-------------
What Does Facial Therapy Look Like? My approach is designed to be clear and empowering. We'll work together to:
Understand Your Face: I'll provide you education about the "how's" and "why's" of your facial movements to give you a complete understanding of how your face is working and create a path forward.
Regain Balance: I'll teach you targeted stretches to release tightness, lengthen your tight tissues, and gradually you will learn how to intentionally find this balance.
Retrain Your Brain: Facial therapy is entirely based on neuroplasticity - the ability to retrain and rewire your brain over time - to help you relearn how to create precise, coordinated, and natural movements, find your "lost" movements, and delink those unwanted movements due to synkinesis.
Most patients see satisfactory progress over 4 to 10 sessions, with treatment typically beginning on a weekly or bi-weekly basis. We may decrease in frequency to every month or two as you progress in your function, comprehension, and independence.
Separate from my work as a facial therapy specialist, I also provide services for adults and teens recovering from brain injuries. My main goal is to help you with your cognition, attention, memory, and communication skills.
I work with clients who have had:
Concussions (mTBI) or other traumatic brain injuries (TBI)
Strokes (CVA)
Neurodegenerative diseases (Parkinson's disease, dementia)
COVID or long COVID
I am here to help you navigate your difficulties and design a path for you to get back to your life after your injury.
I am a private-pay/out-of-pocket practice, which means I do not accept insurance. This allows me to provide flexible, personalized treatment plans that are customized to your specific needs without limitations imposed by insurance companies. My commitment is to providing the most dedicated and focused care possible.
FSA/HSA & Superbills:
My services are eligible for payment using your Flexible Spending Account (FSA) or Health Savings Account (HSA). Additionally, I am happy to provide you with a superbill, which is a detailed receipt of your services that you can submit to your insurance company for potential out-of-network reimbursement. Please note that due to federal regulations, I am unable to issue superbills for Medicare beneficiaries to seek reimbursement for services.
